James Joseph Dion

James J. Dion, 88 of Midland, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2016. The son of the late Mederic and E. Gertrude (Lamkin) Dion was born on September 11, 1927 in Bay City, Michigan. Jim graduated from Bay City Central in 1945 and served his country with the U.S. Navy in both World War II and the Korean War. He married the former Jean Franklin in Bay City on May 27, 1950 and was employed by the Dow Corning Corporation for 40 years. Jim was a loving husband and father and was also an accomplished photographer and scrimshaw artist.

Jim is survived by his wife, Jean of Midland; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa (James) Schmidt of Nokomis, Florida and Sanford, Michigan; and son-in-law, L. Wayne Morrison of Sanford, Michigan. In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his daughter, Lynne D. Morrison.

The family wishes to express their appreciation for the loving and skillful care received by the staff at K&K Quality Care AFC.

In keeping with Jim's wishes, a private memorial service for immediate family will be held at a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorials in his name be made to the donor's favorite charity. Arrangements are under the care of the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home.
