James Lewis Allen

June 12, 1933 — August 9, 2023

James Lewis Allen (Jim), age 90, peacefully passed away on August 9, 2023, surrounded by his family at K&K Quality Care Assisted Living Home. The son of the late Ernest F. and Mildred M. (Briggs) Allen was born in Saginaw on June 12, 1933, where he was raised and educated. Jim retired from Consumers Power after 39 years. Jim enjoyed woodworking, collecting tractors and pocket watches, especially those that featured Mickey Mouse. Jim loved visiting his family's dairy farm in Canada, eating cheese curds and milking cows. He was an early member of Canada Creek Ranch, in Atlanta MI, but he also loved camping throughout Michigan.& He enjoyed traveling around the United States, Mexico, Ireland and the United Kingdom. No matter the route to the destination, he had to travel a different way home. He was a member of the Midland Centre Lodge 273 of the Free & Accepted Masons. On June 7, 1952, Jim married the former Eunice A. Arthur and together they owned and operated Larkin Food Center and Allen's Hardware store, where they enjoyed serving the Larkin Township community for over 50 years. Cooking food, cutting his customer's a good steak or baking a famous pizza were things that pleased him most. Jim's beloved wife of 71 years, Eunice, passed away only two weeks prior to Jim on July 26th 2023.



Surviving are his children, Sueann (William) Sandel, Janet Allen (David) Eklund, Mark (Susanne) Allen; grandchildren, Tristan (Greta) Sandel, Brandin (Ksenija) Sandel, Katelyn Allen Eklund, Miquel (Scott) Keur, Daniel (Kristina) Lewis, Cody Lewis, Sarah (Derek) Fritz; great grandchildren, Sebastian, Rowan, Aidan, Gibson, Aria, Liam; great-great grandchild, Alexander; brother, George Allen, Julia "Patricia" Kelley, Mildred "Bidge" Otter; many nieces and nephews; many beloved Canadian relatives. In addition to his parents and wife, Jim was preceded in death by brothers, Howard Allen, Ernest "Timer" Allen, David "Butch" Allen; sisters, Edna McFadden, Helen "Tiny" Kingry.



Funeral services for Jim will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday August 15, 2023 from Wilson MILLER Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in Midland Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Family will receive guests at the funeral home on Monday from 4 until 7:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A Masonic memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to K&K Quality Care Assisted Living, 351 N.
