Irmtraud E. Waldie

Irmtraud (Gonschor) Waldie, 77, died unexpectedly on December 6, 2018. Irmy was born on September 16, 1941 in East Prussia to the late Hans and Eva Gonschor. She spent a happy childhood in Hamburg, Germany then worked in London and Paris, where she met James Waldie. They were married after an adventurous courtship and have enjoyed 54 years together in marriage.

Irmy had a wonderful zest for life. She had a quick wit, a contagious laugh and a fun sense of adventure. She loved watercolor painting, gardening, trips to the UP, and always appreciated a tasty sweet. She was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church and thoroughly enjoyed her time with her Bible study group "God's Girls".

More than anything, Irmy loved spending time with people. She cherished her family and her many friends, and was a constant source of encouragement to her children and grandchildren. She was dearly loved by all who knew her and she will be deeply missed.

Along with her parents, Irmy was preceded in death by her sister Christa Durivage.

She is survived by her husband James, her three sons, Steven (Monica) Waldie, Pat (Renee) Waldie and Shannon (Melinda) Waldie; ten grandchildren, Jane, Eleanor, Isabel, Sophia, Allison, Carly, Shannon, Caleb, Olivia and Simon; two great-daughters, Lily and Harper; and many cherished friends.

As per her wishes, cremation will take place. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 12 from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the Wilson MILLER funeral Home. There will be a memorial service at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 13 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Bullock Creek with Pastor Tige Culbertson officiating. The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am - 11:00 am, prior to the service.
