Hugh M. Mckenna

Hugh M. McKenna, age 76 of Sanford, died Wednesday April 28, 2010 in Gainesville, Florida. The son of the late Edward and Pansy (Reese) McKenna was born in Granite Falls, Minnesota on October 30, 1933. He served in the United States Navy. Hugh had been employed with The Dow Chemical Co. until retiring in 1993 after 25 yrs of service. He enjoyed bike riding, woodworking, collecting war movies and learning about war planes. Hugh was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Sanford. On September 26, 1959 Hugh married the former Jean C. Hess in Detroit. She died on July 2, 1989. He then married Sandra Baldwin on August 2, 1993 in Indiana.

Surviving is his wife Sandra; sons, Chris (Tami) McKenna, David (Carman) McKenna of Midland; daughter, Karen Costley of Midland; 13 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; step sons, Scott (Pam) Schaefer of Oklahoma, Michael Doman of Midland; step daughters, Cheryl Schaefer of Whittemore Lake, Michigan, Michelle (Stephen) Rowe of Texas; brother, Howard (Mary) McKenna of Beverly Hills, Michigan. Hugh was preceded in death by his sisters, Clare Hamilton and Carman Furby.

Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Thursday May 6, 2010 from St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sanford. Fr. Dan Fox OFM Cap will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery. Hugh's family will receive friends at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A Christian Wake service will take place 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be offered to St. Agnes Church.
