Hugh W. "Joe" Lewis

Hugh W. "Joe" Lewis, age 83 of Midland formerly of Beaverton, died Monday morning August 5, 2013 at MidMichigan Medical Center. The son of the late Frank and Hazel (Flansburg) Lewis was born in Painesville, Ohio on March 16, 1930. Joe had been employed with The Dow Chemical Co until his retirement in 1993 after 27 years of service. He attended Community of Christ Church in Beaverton, raised horses and dogs, collected Farmall tractor memorabilia, beer steins and enjoyed doing carpentry work. On May 16, 1948 Joe married the former Donna L. Jones of whom he loved dearly. She died on May 29, 2007.

Surviving are his sons, Hugh (Julie) Lewis of Gladwin, Mark (Kathy) Lewis of Breckenridge, Kirk (Cathy) Lewis of Coleman, Craig Lewis, Shawn (Tammie) Lewis, Mickey Betts all of Gladwin; daughters, Brenda Lewis, Marcia (Larry) Haney all of Beaverton, Megan Slater of Lansing; 35 grandchildren; 55 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; 3 brothers and 3 sisters. In addition to his parents and wife Joe was preceded in death by daughter, Beth Anne Lewis; grandson, Chad Haney; 1 brother and 3 sisters.

Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Thursday August 8, 2013 from Wilson MILLER Funeral Home. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials maybe offered to the organization of ones choice.
