Howard T. Schroeder

Howard T. Schroeder, age 88 of Midland died Sunday morning October 9, 2011 at his residence. The son of the late George H. and Gertrude (Rieth) Schroeder was born in Detroit on June 18, 1923. Howard started farming at the age of 10. After grade school he was a full time dairy farmer in Mt. Clemens, Mi. He consulted regularly with the extension service at MSU. His all registered Holstein Herd improved to the number one Herd in Macomb Co. in 1965. Howard then sold that herd and went into Turf Production. He retired from farming in 1986 and moved to Millersburg, Mi. In 2008 he moved to Midland. Howard was a very active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waldenburg, Mi and its Men's & Ushers Clubs until moving to Millersburg where he joined Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Onaway. He served on the Board of Directors for Presque Isle County Council on Aging. Howard was also a member The Dairy Herd Improvement Association.

Surviving is his wife of 65 years, the former Dorothy M. Bahlman, whom he married on June 1, 1946 in Mt. Clemens; Son, Gary (Shirley) Schroeder of Midland; daughter, Jan (Ray) Champion of Imlay City; grandchildren, Nathan and Justin Schroeder, Aaron Champion, Sarah Bowman and Lana McIntosh; great grandchildren, Kobe Champion, Maria Chesnutt, Aniella Bowman, Luke Bowman, Maybel Schroeder and Travis Schroder.

Per the wishes of Howard cremation has taken place with a private memorial service to be held at a later date. Memorials maybe offered to Immanuel Lutheran Church 47120 Romeo Plank Macomb, Mi, Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 3786 Glasier Rd Box 706 Onaway, Mi. or Home & Hospice Advantage 401 Center Ave suite 130 Bay City, Mi 48708.
