Herman O. "Dutch" Senkbeil

March 14, 1920 — June 27, 2012

Herman O. "Dutch" Senkbeil, age 92 of Midland died Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at his home. The son of the late Erwin and Alma (Priebe) Senkbeil was born March 14, 1920 in Cleveland, Ohio. Dutch graduated from Midland High School in 1938 and served with the U.S. Navy during WWII. On June 4, 1941 he married the former Gwendolyn Patrick. After 70 years of marriage Gwendolyn died July 17, 2011. Dutch worked for the Dow Chemical Company, retiring as a Senior Research Chemist in 1980 after 39 years of service. He loved to square dance, avid gardener, sports enthusiast and card player. Dutch was a member of the Berryhill American Legion Post 165 and the Poseyville United Methodist Church.

Mr. Senkbeil is survived by his son, Patrick Senkbeil of Columbus, Ohio; daughters, Michele (Charles) Cohen of Saginaw, Brenda (Lee) Elmore of Midland, Robyn Breasbois and friend, Grey Soderquist of Midland; grandchildren, Sean Senkbeil, Brandon Senkbeil, Crystal Parker, Dawn Criswell, Ryan Elmore, April Elmore, Amber Elmore, Kiel Brewster, Erik Brewster, Brent Breasbois, Ranae Dougherty; eleven great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; brother, Edwin (Joann) Senkbeil of Tucson, Arizona; and ½ sister, Judy Yoder of Florida. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his sister, Evelyn Mapes.

Funeral services for Mr. Senkbeil will be conducted at 11:00 am Monday July 2, 2012 from the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home with Reverend Roger Stauffer, MidMichigan Medical Center Chaplain officiating. Interment will be in Midland Cemetery with Military Rites under the auspices of the U S Navy Honor Guard and the Midland Area Veterans. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 8 pm. Memorials may be offered to Mid Michigan Home Health Care or the Humane Society of Midland County.
