While we celebrate the gift God gave each of us with Helen, we with extreme sadness say good bye to a wonderful, sweet, kind, gentle soul on Monday, June 29, 2015, while at the Maples Adult Foster Care Facility in Frankfort, Michigan at the age of 93.
Formerly of Midland, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Toynette (Bordenor) Brown and was born in Midland on January 25, 1922 where she was raised and educated, graduating from Midland High School in 1943. Helen had worked as a secretary for the Midland County Court System, clerk at a dress shop, waitress at the Red Carpet Restaurant and retired from K & D Industries. Helen was a member of the Sanford Church of Christ Restored.
Helen is survived by her daughters Letetia (Ed) Mahan of Burleson, Texas, Judy Lee Verro of Eagleville, Missouri; son Darryl (Pam) Burkhardt of Bear Lake, Michigan; as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Helen was predeceased by the father of Darryl and Letetia, Charles Burkhardt and the father of Judy Lee, Mike Wellman.
One day more, I'd like to wear a wild pink ribbon in my hair. Bat a ball up thru the air, eat green apples without a care. Swing on creaking garden gates, fly downhill on roller skates. Tug the string on a paper kite, plead to stay up late at night. Ankle socks and saddle shoes, tea for two, St. Louis Blues. Warm and safe inside our door. To be a kid just one day more. (by Elizabeth L. Cuff)
Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Thursday, July 2, 2015 from the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home with Reverend Ed Mahan officiating. Private interment will be in Midland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from noon until the time of service. Memorials may be offered to the Humane Society of Midland County. Personal messages of condolence may be left at www.wilson-miller.
