Helen Marie (Putnum) Vinson, age 80 of Midland, went to be with her God on Friday, June 12, 2009. The daughter of the late Fred and Mathilda Putnum was born on March 23, 1929 in Midland County where was raised and educated. Helen married Robert F. Vinson on July 1, 1950 and he predeceased her February 6, 1988. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and loved her children deeply. She enjoyed watching birds, deer, wildlife and was a very giving soul. Helen was a member of St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church for many years. She worked as a secretary for The Dow Chemical Co. before starting her family and then helped with operating the family business "Vinson Lawn & Tree Service, Inc".
Surviving are her children, Steven R. (Ellen) Vinson, Teresa L. (Robert) Vinson-Dopp, Joseph (Debbie) Vinson; grandchildren, Joshua (Katelin) Vinson, Lindsey Vinson, Matthew Dopp, Tricia Vinson and Holly Vinson; great grandchildren, Alexis Vinson, Alivia Morgan and Noah Davis; sisters and brothers, Lorane (Luther) Sherriff, Edward (Gloria) Putnum; sisters in law, Rose Putnum, Rosie Wiess and Grace Wallace. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Vinson; sisters, Marjorie Johnson, Delores Putnam; brother, James G. Putnam; and mother and father in law, Ernie B. and Cora Frances Vinson.
The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church with the Reverend Father Jose Cabera as celebrant. The Rite of Committal will follow in Homer Township Cemetery. Mrs. Vinson will lie in state at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of Mass. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home where there will be no visitation.
