Helen L. Garno

Helen L. Garno, age 93 of Midland, died Thursday morning January 15, 2015 at MidMichigan Medical Center. The daughter of the late John and Ida Belle (Burgess) Wegner was born in Midland on February 18, 1921 where she was raised and educated. She was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church, served on the Board of Directors for MDA, a member of Midland Association of Retarted Citizens, where she served one term as Treasure and was a Board Member for West Midland Family Center. Helen enjoyed sewing, making quilts, and doing puzzles. On April 5, 1941 in Midland Helen married Robert Garno and after 63 years of marriage he died on August 16, 2004.

Surviving is her son, Robert D. Garno of Midland; daughter, Barbara Jo (Alan) Howe of Oscoda; daughter in law, Kathleen Hair of Sanford; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild. In addition to her parents Helen was preceded in death by sons, Gerald & William Scott Garno; daughter, Patricia Ann Dean; grandson, Michael Patrick Elliott; sister, Ruth Marie Born.

Funeral and committal services for Helen will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday January 20, 2015 from Wilson MILLER Funeral Home. Rev. Dr. Wallace H. Mayton III will officiate. Interment will be in Lee Township Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 4 till 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
