Harvey C. Ropp, age 94 of Midland, died Sunday evening November 17, 2013 at the Toni and Trish House in Auburn. The son of the late Joseph and Rachel (Lichty) Ropp was born in Pigeon, Michigan on August 10, 1919. Harvey served in the United States Navy during World War II. He had been employed with The Dow Chemical Co. until retiring in 1981. Harvey was a member of Homer United Methodist Church, American Legion BerryHill Post No. 165 where he served as past Commander and was part of the 40/8 club, was past Commander of D.A.V. Chapter 94 and past zone officer, he served on the board of Directors for Family & Children Services in Midland, VNA and served as President of Midland County Handicap Services now know as Arnold Center. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and raising horses.

Surviving is his wife of 72 years the former Beatrice Krause of whom he married on February 22, 1941 in Midland; daughters, Carol (Glenn) Gillespie, Sharon (Al) Ortiz, Wendy (Rob) Donovan all of Midland; grandchildren, Jeff (Julie) Ortiz, Shelly (John Seitz) Ortiz, Colleen (Jerry) Weinert, Brendon & Sean Donovan; great grandchildren, Jade, Audrey, Hailee, Sophia, Eric, Dylan and Tonya; great great grandchildren, Keegan & Julia; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Harvey was preceded in death by grandson, Steven Gillespie; a brother and a sister.

Funeral services for Mr. Ropp will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday November 23, 2013 from Homer United Methodist Church with Pastor David G. Mulder officiating. Interment will follow in Midland Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Military Honors being provided by the United States Navy and the Midland Area Veterans. Family will receive friends at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home on Thursday from 6 to 8:00 pm on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:00 pm and Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
