Harold E. Yahr, age 81 of Hope died at his residence on January 21, 2010. The son of the late Harold E. and Dorothy (Phillips) Yahr Sr. was born on July 17, 1928 in Petoskey, MI where he was raised and educated. Harold served with the Army during the Korean War and was discharged from active duty in 1951. On May 15, 1953 in Flint Harold married the former Eileen Hunt. He worked for General Motors in production retiring in 1984. The Yahr's have been Hope residents since 1969 and members of the Floyd Church of God.
Mr. Yahr is survived by his wife of 56 years Eileen Yahr; son, David (Joy) of Hope; daughters, Martha (Patrick) Taylor of Hope, Robin (Jerry) Emmendorfer of Midland; seven grandchildren, Steven Yahr,Jim Emmendorfer,Daniel Yahr, Brandi (Emmendorfer) Riley, Ashlee (Taylor) Jordan, Derek Taylor, Josette Yahr; eight great grandchildren, Christopher (Yahr) Atkins, Shallody (Yahr) Neely, Yazmiah Yahr, Steven Yahr Jr., Brice Riley, Analisa Riley, Li Yahr and Kira Jordan.
Harold was active in Boy Scouts for over 50 years serving in various positions; 4-H leader and held several positions in the Church of God. He was also very active at the St. Louis Church of God camp ground where he worked in the children's camp.
A celebration of Harold's life will be take place Saturday January 30, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from the Floyd Church of God with Pastor Jeff Eckman officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 until time of service. Memorials may be offered to the family, Floyd Church of God or the St. Louis Church of God Children's Camp.
