Harold “Wayne” Anderson passed away peacefully at home on October 3, 2026, at the age of 85. His smile and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Wayne was born in Mt. Pleasant on February 26, 1941, to the late Harold H. and Eva J. (McFarland) Anderson. He gained a farmer’s engineering spirit and the ability to fix just about anything as a child growing up in Rosebush.
He loved golfing, woodworking, sports, and hunting, especially at the family’s property “The Wild 40”, where he and his brother built their log cabin. Wayne proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965.
On September 23, 1966, Wayne married the love of his life, the former Judith A. Eurich. They celebrated 60 years together and raised three cherished daughters. He is survived by his wife, Judy; daughters, Tracy Anderson, Kelly (Brian) Dais, and Cory (John) Sursely; grandsons, Andrew (Caitlyn) Chapman and Logan Dais; and sister, Linda Anderson. Also surviving are his sisters-in-law, Donna Anderson, Amy Eurich and Kay Eurich; and brother-in-law, Tom (Sarah Jane) Eurich and many nieces and nephews. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Anderson; sister, Susan Halsey; and brother-in-law, Mike Eurich.
Wayne retired from The Dow Chemical Company, where he enjoyed a career as a Pipefitter. He was generous with his time outside of work, serving as a 4-H leader and volunteer firefighter with the Edenville Fire Department.
Wayne was a fast-pitch softball catcher for many years. He later coached his daughters and helped Meridian High School capture the 1987 Class B State Softball Championship. He was a loyal fan of the Michigan State Spartans and the Detroit Tigers.
Wayne and Judy loved traveling together and spending their winters in the South. In the final years of his life, he was a devoted caregiver for Judy through her journey with Alzheimer’s.
A service to honor Wayne’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Sanford United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Jerome Township Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be held at Wilson Miller Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Those wishing to make a donation in Wayne’s memory are asked to consider the Meridian Sports Boosters, Chippewa Nature Center, or a veterans organization of their choice.
