Harley W. Henson, age 91 of Sanford, MI died at his residence on Tuesday, October 5, 2010. The son of the late Jesse Richard Henson and Susan Allsman Henson was born on September 19, 1919 in Hillview, IL where he was raised and educated. Harley moved to the Midland area in 1942 and served in the U.S. Army. He was employed by Midland Hospital and then with the Dow Chemical Co., retiring in 1982 as a fireman, from the Dow Fire Department, after 35 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 165, the V.F.W., Cooties and the Midland Eagles. Harley enjoyed fishing, hunting, archery and cooking for groups.
Mr. Henson is survived by sons, Bill (Debra) Kushmaul of Gladwin and James (Sheryl) Henson of Midland; daughters, Judith Berryhill of Midland and Jan McCoy of Midland; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren; sisters, Kathleen (Jim) McKean of Woodson, IL and Jane (Clarence) Smith of White Hall, IL.
Visitation will be at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home on Friday, October 8, 2010 from 6 to 8 pm.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Sunday, October 10, 2010 from the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall, IL with visitation from noon until time of service. Interment will be in Pine Tree Cemetery. Memorials may be offered to St. Judes Hospital. Personal messages of support may be left for the family at www.wilson-miller.com
