Grace Marie Wiggins

Grace M. Wiggins, age 98 of Midland, died Sunday morning August 16, 2015 at Bickford Cottage. The daughter of the late Emil and Agnes (Upstrom) Bergstrom was born in Marquette, Michigan on December 10, 1916. Grace graduated from Graveraet High School in Marquette and went on to receive her teaching certificate from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois and then her Master's Degree from Central Michigan University. She began her teaching career in Pequaming, Michigan and after moving to Midland and raising her children she went on to work at various schools in the Midland area as a librarian. Grace was a member of First United Methodist Church where she was very involved with many church activities. She was also a member of the Midland Liberal Arts Club, and did volunteer work for many organizations in the Midland Area. Grace was an avid reader and dedicated herself to helping others through community service. On February 22, 1941 she married Glenn C. Wiggins and after 57 years of marriage he died on February 27, 1998.

Surviving are her children, Judith (Edward) Watkins of Hartwell, Georgia, Kenneth (Lynn) Wiggins of Central Lake, Jeffrey Wiggins and his partner Joe of Sonoma, California, G. Casey Wiggins of Chicago, Illinois; 4 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brothers, Donald Bergstrom of Midland, Charles Bergstrom of Mountain Home, Idaho; sisters, Nancy Cayemberg of Duluth, Minnesota, Kathleen Murto of Green Bay, Wisconsin; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Grace was preceded in death by her siblings, Russell, Floyd, James, Ralph and Judith Bergstrom.

A Celebration of Grace's Life will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday August 22, 2015 at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Charles Keyworth officiating. Interment of her ashes will be in the Shrader Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be offered to First United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the care of Wilson MILLER Funeral Home.
