Gordon D. Richardson

Gordon D. Richardson, age 58 of Midland died at his residence. The son of the late John E. and Marcella (Mueller) Richardson was born on July 21, 1952 in Cincinnati, Ohio and was raised and educated in Van Nuys, CA. Gordon served with the Navy as a gunner in Vietnam. He then graduated from California State University at Northridge with a BS in Electrical Engineering. On February 16, 1980 he married the former Jenee' Houghton in Reseda, CA moving to Midland in 1996 and she preceded him in death on May 16, 2005. Gordon was employed by Nexteer (Delphi) in Saginaw. He was a member of the Memorial Presbyterian Church and enjoyed iron smithing, rebuilding and restoring old cars and his latest project was restoring a 1958 Harley Motorcycle. Gordon was a recipient of the Boss-Kettering Award for his work on the Quadra steer System for GM vehicles.

Gordon is survived by his children: Jay Richardson of Vista, CA and Courtney Richardson of San Francisco, CA. He is also survived by his brother Alan Richardson of Palmdale, CA.

Funeral service for Mr. Richardson will be conducted at 11:00 am Thursday, December 30, 2010 from the Memorial Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Wallace H. Mayton III officiating. Interment will be in Midland City Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home on Wednesday from 3 to 7 and at the church from 10:00 am until time of service. Memorials may be offered to the Chippewa Nature Center.
