Gordon "Mick" Cochran

Gordon S. "Mick" Cochran, 75, of Midland died Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at his home.

The son of the late William and Laura (Mashue) Cochran was born July 16, 1934 in Midland; graduating from Midland High School in 1952.
Mick served with the US Navy during the Korean War. On July 18, 1959 he married Elzora Hoogerhyde in Midland. Mick and Elzora had been best friends since they were 15 and 12 years old, respectively, and just celebrated 50 years of marriage. Mick had worked as a millwright for the Dow Corning Corporation for over 30 years, retiring in 1986. He was an active member of the Midland County Democratic Party where he served as a delegate, an avid model airplane enthusiast and member of the Midland Area Remote Control Club, a member of Chippewa Nature Center and an avid genealogist. He loved jazz music, enjoyed spending time at the family cabin in Wolverine and lived for his grandchildren.

Mick is survived by his wife, Elzora; sons, Mickey (Vedenia "Rene") Cochran of Midland and Steven (Kathleen) Cochran of Fremont; daughter, Lisa (Robert Tell) Cochran of Royal Oak; grandchildren, Jacob, Leah, Emily, Elissa and Annie; and sister, Linda (Richard) LeBeau of Midland. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by sisters, Kay Sosnowski and Jan Archer.

A memorial service for Mr. Cochran will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Monday, September 21, 2009 from Open Door Baptist Church with the Reverend Jody Ellis officiating. Military rites will be under the auspices of the Midland Area Veterans and the US Navy Funeral Honors Guard. Family will meet with friends at the church on Monday from noon until the time of service. Donations in Mick's memory may be offered to Open Door Baptist Church.
