Gilbert R. "Gil" Arthur

Gilbert R. "Gil" Arthur, age 81 of Gladwin, died early Saturday morning February 23, 2013 at his son's home in Midland. The son of the late Russell H. and Laura (Babcock) Arthur was born in Bay County on August 9, 1931. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Gil had been employed with The Dow Chemical Co as Journeyman Refrigerator Specialist until his retirement in 1997 after 34 years of service. He enjoyed farming, watch or listening to Tiger Baseball, and spending time with his grandkids. Gil was a member of American Legion Berryhill Post in Midland.

Surviving is his wife of 58 years the former Amy English of whom he married on March 7, 1954; sons, Thomas (Dr. Sheryl Hasegawa) Arthur of Midland, Timothy Arthur of Little River Alabama, Terry Arthur of Midland; grandchildren, Corey, Kyle, Tyler, Cody, Tosha, Hannah and Brookley; 3 great grandchildren; brothers, Geffery (Pam) Arthur, Randy (Kathy) Arthur all of Midland; sister, Linda (Jerry) Nightlinger of Midland; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Gil was preceded in death by brother, Leslie Arthur.

Funeral services for Gil will take place 11:00 a.m. Thursday February 28, 2013 from Wilson MILLER Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Midland Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
