Gilbert Daniel Bihn “Gramps”, age 99 of Lee Twp, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026 surrounded by his family. He was born in Midland, on May 31, 1926, to the late John and Nellie (Murray) Bihn. Gilbert served his country honorably with the United States Army during World War II.
Gilbert was a man of God, a trait he often expressed through his love of music. He had a passion for the outdoors, something he shared with his family. He could often be found hunting, fishing, bird watching and looking for animal tracks. Puzzles and word searches were a favorite pastime of his and he enjoyed camping and traveling.
On February 20, 1947, he married Phyllis Cooper in St. Elmo, and they shared 70 years together before her passing in 2017. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Gloria (Charles) Disel, Grace (Dennis) Jones, Janet (Mike) Gandy. He was a loving gramps to his grandkids, Brian, Trent, Sally (Nate), Betty (Ben), Joy, Curtis, Jennifer (Ted), and Travis (Candace); 16 great-grandchildren, and step-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Gilbert was preceded in death by his siblings, Orville (Vada) Bihn, Twyla (Kermit) Kitzman.
Gilbert’s funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at Faith Wesleyan Church. Military honors will be presented by the Midland Honor Guard and the United States Army. Private interment will be in Lee Twp Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 pm – 7:00pm at Wilson Miller Funeral Home and on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 am until the time of service.
