George Foster

George C. Foster, age 87 of Midland died at Colonial Villa on Monday May 6, 2013.
The son of the late Gail and Louisa (Thornton) Foster was born on April 17, 1926 in Owosso, MI where he was raised and educated. George served with the U.S. Army during WWII, serving in the Asiatic Theater, the Philippine Liberation, with one Bronze Star, and with the Japan Occupation Forces. On May 27, 1948 he married the former Shirley Henson in Midland and after 63 years of marriage she predeceased him October 9, 2011. George worked for the Dow Chemical Co. as an Electrical Foreman for 42 years, retiring in 1985. George also owned and operated Foster Electric. He was a former building inspector for Mills, Hope and Edenville Townships. He and Shirley enjoyed square dancing and vacationing in Florida. George also enjoyed building and remodeling homes. He was a member of Centre Lodge # 273 Free and Accepted Masons and the Elf Khurafeh Shrine Temple.

George is survived by his daughters, Lorri (Arthur) Palmer of Sanford, Renee (Charles) Pinnow of Midland, son-in-law Mike Slagle; daughter-in-law Diane Foster; and his special friend, Della. He will be greatly missed by nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his son, Michael and daughter, Jerri Slagle.

In accordance with his wishes cremation has been arranged through the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home. Interment will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, May 11, 2013, Section Y at the Midland City Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of the Midland Area Veterans and the United States Army Honors Team. Donations in George's memory may be offered to the Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children.
