Gary J. Wontorcik

Gary James Wontorcik, age 66 of Midland, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2023. He was born in Midland on March 6, 1957 to John and Shirley (Kinney) Wontorcik. Gary was raised and educated in Midland, graduating from Bullock Creek Schools in 1975. He married the former Jacqueline Williams in Bay City on October 19, 1991 and they shared 32 years together. Gary had been a member of Local Operating Engineers 324 of which he worked at Fisher Contracting over 30 years. After retiring from Fisher, Gary then worked at Frank's Great Outdoors until his death.

As a true outdoorsman, Gary enjoyed fishing, hunting, and trapping. He often tied his own flies and was previously a member of the Steelhead Association. Gary was always there for anyone and loved spending time with his family and friends. He especially loved spending time with his daughter and recently, his new grandbaby, James.

Surviving is his wife, Jackie Wontorcik; daughter, Katelyn (James Sr.) Welch; grandson, James Matthew Welch Jr.; father, John Wontorcik; siblings, Cathy (John) VanMeter, Linda Bryant, and Karen (Mike) Nentwig; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. Gary was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Wontorcik; and grandparents, Wilber and Violet Kinney, and Anna Wontorcik.

Funeral services for Gary will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday December 16, 2023 at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Luce officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 11am until the time of service at 1pm. Memorial contributions may be offered to an organization of one's choice or to the wishes of the family.
