Gary Raymond Hall entered into eternal glory on April 14, 2011.
Gary was born May 29, 1947 at the newly opened Midland Hospital to Robert and Dolores (Martinski) Hall attended by the late Dr. W. Towsley.
Gary attended Dow School, Longview, Central Intermediate and graduated from Midland High School in 1966. He then immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy, graduated from Great Lakes Training Center and was transferred to the Mobile Construction Battalion #71 (Seabees) Center in Davisville, Rhode Island. Gary proudly served two tours of duty in Vietnam from 1966 through 1968 and was honorable discharged in November of 1969.
He fulfilled a childhood dream by serving as a firefighter at MBS International Airport's Crash Fire Rescue for 35 years. Gary was also a volunteer fireman for Tittabawassee and Larkin Townships, a member of the Saginaw County Fire Association, was a state certified instructor and a past training coordinator for Midland County.
Gary was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where he dearly loved serving in the social ministry and was a past elder. He was an avid sportsman; a Wyoming hunting trip with his brother in law Charlie, and fishing trips to Canada and Mud Lake were among his fondest memories. He enjoyed silversmithing and lapidary, traveling; particularly winters in Arizona, summers in Burt Lake, and collecting Michigan Post Cards. In addition, Gary was a member of the Midland Gem and Mineral Club as well as a member of the Midland Antique Society. After his retirement in 2006 he relished helping his wife Linda with Pastimes Estate Sales.
Always a gentle man, Gary loved his family and will be remembered for his hard work ethics, care and compassion for others, and stalwart faith in his Lord and Savior. He would want to leave mankind with the following statement of undisputed truth; "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life". (John 3:16)
Gary will be greatly missed by his wife of 43 years, Linda (Draves); son, Patrick Hall and his sweetheart Carrie Statt of Marquette; daughter, Jennifer (Bud) Wray of Midland; grandchildren, Aaron Hall, Lane and Rebecca Wray, all of Midland; mother, Dolores Hall of Midland; brothers, Richard Hall of Morristown, Kirk (Sharon) Hall of Midland; sisters, Janis (Charles) Barto of Midland, Lori (Kirk) Wright of Sanford; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Hall will be conducted at 11:00 am, Tuesday, April 19, 2011 from St. John's Lutheran Church with Reverend Daniel Kempin and Reverend Matthew Makela officiating. Visitation will be at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home on Monday from 4-8 pm and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Military rites will be under the auspices of the Midland Area Veterans and the U.S. Navy Honors Guard. In that Gary passed as a result of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia donations to the Children's Leukemia Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
