Garry R. Montle

Garry R. Montle, age 77 of Midland, died Monday evening December 10, 2012 at MidMichigan Medical Center. The son of Grace L. Peck and the late Ray S. Montle was born in Akron, Michigan on May 27, 1935. Garry had been employed with Burt Watson Chevrolet in Freeland, owned and operated Garry Standard Oil in Freeland for 5 years and then worked and retired from SVSU in 1997. He enjoyed woodworking, being outdoors snowmobiling, hunting and fishing.

Surviving is his wife of 52 years the former Joan Ropp of whom he married on September 10, 1960; children, Dawn (Chris) Hockaday, Mark (Cindy) Montle, Michael Montle all of Midland; mother, Grace Montle of Midland; grandchildren, Brandon, Nicholas, Leah, Cal; great grandchild, Kaylee; step grandchildren, Samantha, Natasha, Megan; step great grandchildren, Haley and Addi; brother, Elwood Montle of Midland; brothers-in-law, Lloyd (Cora) Ropp, Ken (Becci) Ropp; sister-in-law, Darlene Ropp; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, Garry was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Claire and Bob Ropp.

Funeral services for Garry will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday December 14, 2012 at Our Redeemer Church. Pastor Mark Burks will officiate. Interment will follow in Poseyville Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
