Frederick Reeves, Jr.

Frederick Reeves, Jr., age 89, of Sanford, died Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at his home. The son of the late Frederick and Lena (Donaghy) Reeves was born May 27, 1922, in Ingersoll Township and was a graduate of Midland High School. Fred served in the U. S. Navy during WWII. On July 23, 1949 he married the former JoAnn Zondlak.
Fred retired from Midland Public Schools in 1989. He enjoyed all sports, especially baseball, football and golf, and had played third base for the Saginaw Federation Baseball League. He was an avid Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions fan. Fred also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and spending time with his family. He was a member of St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church and St. Agnes Catholic Church in Sanford, and was a life member of the Midland Elks Lodge #1610 and the American Legion Berryhill Post #165.

Mr. Reeves is survived by his wife of 62 years, JoAnn; son William (Barbara) Reeves of Midland; grandson, Brian Reeves of Midland; granddaughter, Cynthia Reeves of Pittsburgh, PA; brother, Richard Reeves of AZ and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Nancy Reeves; brother, Kenneth Reeves; and sister, Violet Kinney.

The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Saturday, October 1, 2011 from St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church with the Reverend Father Patrick O'Connor as celebrant, assisted by Deacon Aloysius J. Oliver. A private Rite of Committal will be held later in New Calvary Cemetery. Family will meet with friends at the church on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of Mass. Memorials may be offered to St. Brigid School Building Fund.
