Francine A. (Delaney) Heinze

Francine A. (Delaney) Heinze, age 95 of Midland, died Wednesday morning May 11, 2011 at King's Daughters Home. The daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Whitcomb) Delaney was born in Kalamazoo on March 28, 1916. She attended school in Saginaw and graduated from Midland High School in 1934. On March 28, 1938 in Ohio, Francine married Harold Heinze. He died on November 21, 1980. She was employed with Michigan Bell Telephone Co. for 18 years. Later she attended and graduated from Central Michigan University with a M.A. degree. Francine taught school for Midland Public Schools from 1953 until her retirement in 1979. She received the Gerstacker Teaching Award on May 7, 1969. Francine was a member of the N.E.A. and M.E.A., King's Daughters and Sons, former Librarian Guild member at the hospital and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Mrs. Heinze is survived by her sister in law, Luella Delany; nieces and nephews, Terry (Sharon) Burrell of Riverside, California, Michael Burrell of Midland, Sharon (John Cuzic) Delaney of Midland, Maureen (Michael) Lentz of Littleton, Colorado, Meegan Delaney of Midland; 2 grandnieces; 1 grandnephew; 2 great grandnieces; 3 great grandnephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Francine was preceded in death by son, Dennis Heinze; brothers, F.A. "Mike" Delaney, Robert Delaney; sister, Gertrude Burrell.

Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 13, 2011 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Fr. Peter J. Gaspeny will officiate. The Rite of Committal will follow in Midland City Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time service.
