Frances I. "Tommie" Bell

Frances I. "Tommie" (Naumes) Bell, age 98 of Midland, died Wednesday morning May 9, 2012 at Tendercare of Midland. The daughter of the late Martin and Elizabeth (Byrne) Naumes was born in Pinconning on September 6, 1913. At the age of 3 her family moved to Mt. Pleasant. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and then attended St. Lawrence School of Nursing. On August 14, 1934 in Mt. Pleasant, Tommie married E. Ralph Bell. She and Ralph moved to Midland in 1945 where Tommie went to work for the City of Midland in the Assessors Office for 6 years and Treasurers Office for 6 years. She then went to work at Northwood University in the business office for 12 years. Tommie was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Sanford, enjoyed playing bridge, flower gardening, wintering in Vero Beach, Florida and played golf until the age of 92.

Surviving is her daughter, Jane (Larry) Kline of Midland; son, Thomas (Patricia) Bell of Grass Lake; 18 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; brother, John Naumes of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; brother in law, Frank Courter of Lansing; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Tommie was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph in 1989; daughter, Sally Ann; brothers, Joseph "Bud" (Harriet) Naumes, Michael (Betty) Naumes, Bernard (Emily) Naumes; sisters, Gen (Bernard) Jones, Helen (Thomas) Webster, Katie (Ken) Loop, Dorothy (Jim) McGowan and Betty Courter; sister in law, Margaret Naumes.

The Funeral Liturgy for Tommie will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday May 12, 2012 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Sanford. Fr. Dan Fox, OFM, Cap will officiate. The Rite of Committal will follow in New Calvary Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of mass. A Parish Rosary will be recited Friday evening 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials maybe offered to St. Agnes Church.
