Florence V. Conklin

Florence V. Conklin age 97 of Midland died Wednesday March 12, 2014 at Brittany Manor. The daughter of the late Michael and Gladys (Commings) Rider was born on March 7, 1917 in Midland where she was raised and educated. On June 5, 1935 she married Cecil L. Conklin. After 67 years of marriage he predeceased her on March 1, 2003. Florence volunteered as a Yellow Lady at the Midland Hospital and also volunteered for the Red Cross at the Saginaw VA Hospital. She was a long time member of the Midland Seventh-day Adventist Church. Florence enjoyed quilting, knitting, was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Sarasota, FL. A special thank you to A&D Home Care and Dedicated in Care Enterprise for the care given to Florence.

Florence is survived by her grandchildren, Diane (Earl Dice) DeBenedictus, Craig (Richelle) Conklin, Andree (Craig) Milkowski; great grandchildren, Kaley Heim, Mariah Conklin, Kyle Dice; great great grandchildren, Ethan Heim and Addison Heim; sister, Aletha Buckner; and daughter-in-law Joyce Conklin. In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by sons, Michael L. Conklin, who died in Vietnam in 1970, and Lloyd Conklin, who died March 5, 2004; and her brother, Michael "Jim" Rider.

Funeral service for Mrs. Conklin will be conducted at 2:00 pm Friday, March 14, 2014 from the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home with Pastor Donald Turrell of the Church of God Seventh Day officiating. Interment will be in Homer Township Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 am until time of service.
