Eva R. Heminger, age 87 of Midland passed away peacefully with her family by her side Wednesday, November 23, 2011. The first of the eventual eleven children born to the late Charles (Alvie) and Hattie (Grimm) Bass, Eva was born on August 18, 1924 in Mt. Haley Township where she was raised and educated. On June 9, 1945 she married the love of her life John Heminger in Midland. After 53 years of marriage he predeceased her on October 30, 1998. Before her marriage Eva was a working girl, doing her part in the airplane factory during the WWII. After marriage, in addition to being a wife and mother, she enjoyed her time as a 4-H leader, Sunday school teacher and working the election boards. More than anything, she loved to be outside. Whether she was gardening, rock collecting or hunting and fishing she always enjoyed nature and animals. She was the original "Dog Whisperer". Indoors, first and foremost she was the best cook, even though she didn't believe in measuring devices all the time. She was also very competitive; she loved to play games, everything from dice or cards to softball and bowling. Her beloved Tuesday morning bowling team won 1st place in 1986.
Eva is survived by her daughters, Karen Heminger and Sandra (Harry) Martin; grandchildren, Ann Heminger, Stephanie (Blane) Freeman, Shad Martin; great grandchildren, Kristen (Jeremiah) Webster, Addison Freeman; and great great granddaughter, Mariah Webster. Also surviving are her siblings, Evelyn Bass, Beryl McClain, Winona Kenyon, Norris (Micky) Bass, Ray (Alberta) Bass, Leroy (Shirley) Bass, David (Sue) Bass, Douglas (Vivian) Bass, Wanda (Mike) Wilson.
She was also predeceased by her brother and sister in law Jim and Joyce Bass, and brothers in law Ronald McClain and Jim Kenyon.
The family would like to send a special thank you to MidMichigan Home Health Care (Hospice). Especially her angels, Redeana, Penny, Kimm, and Billie Jo, we couldn't have done it without you. Thanks for your help.
