Etta A. Chapin, age 93 of Midland, died Friday morning, May 7, 2010 at MidMichigan Stratford Village. The daughter of the late Elna and Bernice (Alexander) Hoon was born in Midland on February 25, 1917 where she was raised and educated. Etta was a member of Gordonville United Methodist Church, enjoyed sewing and quilting. On November 6, 1937 Etta married Charles Chapin. He died on September 8, 1992.
Surviving are her sons, Donald (Connie) Chapin of Midland, DeWayne (Marcie) Chapin of Pinconning; grandchildren, Jeanette O'Boyle, Annette Myers, Charles Chapin, Donna Schroeder, Darren Chapin, Brett Chapin, Debra Socier and Louis Whyte; 22 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; brother, Earl Hoon; sisters, Vera Chapin, Norma Stevens; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Chapin will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday May 11, 2010 from Wilson MILLER Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Charles Keyworth of First United Methodist Church officiating. Private interment will follow in Midland Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Etta's family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be offered to Gordonville United Methodist Church or MidMichigan Home Care (Hospice).
