Ernest L. Erskine

Ernest L. Erskine, age 69 of Sanford died Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at his residence. The son of the late Aubrey and Clara (Zilska) Erskine was born on February 23, 1947 in Midland where he was raised and educated. Ernest served with the U. S. Army during the Vietnam Era, awarded two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. On January 26, 1968 he married the former Darla McHenry in Sanford. Ernest worked for the Dow Chemical Co as an operator and retired in 2009 after 43 years of service. He enjoyed farming and was a member of the Sanford American Legion. He and Darla celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary with a trip to Alaska.

Ernest is survived by his wife Darla Erskine; his daughters Lanette (Bill) Gale of Sanford, Heidi (Scott) Hientskill of Midland and Angela Evilsizer of Sanford; grandchildren Zachary, Eric, Hannah, Haley and Ethan; brothers Leonard and Loren Erskine; sisters Evelyn Erskine and Karen Tolman.

In accordance to his wishes, cremation has taken place and memorial services will be conducted at a later date. Memorials may be offered to the Midland County Relay for Life in care of the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are by the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home.
