Emry "Buster" Lewis, age 89 of Midland died at Tender Care, Midland on Saturday, February 7, 2009. The son of the late Emry and Leana (Engle) Lewis was born on January 29, 1920 in Bay County. On January 27, 1941 he married the former Clarabel Horning in Midland. Emry has been a member of the Local 1098 of Laborers International Union of North America since 1942. Emry had worked for Austin Construction and Collinson Construction for many years until he took the position of Caretaker, for the Midland First United Methodist Church, where he worked until his retirement.
Emry is survived by his wife, Clarabel Lewis and his son, Gary Lewis of Midland; Grandchildren, Craig (Beth) Lewis of South Haven, Mary (Terry) Shudark of Midland, Steve (Vicky) Rider of Midland; Great Grandchildren, Michelle & Kyle Lewis, Allison & Madison Shudark and Adam & Megan Rider. He is also survived by his brother, Clarence (Shirley) Lewis of Deansville, GA.; and son-in-law Ed Rider.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Sharon Rider; granddaughter, Shelly Rider-Brandle; and brothers, Harold and Harry.
Funeral service will be conducted at NOON Wednesday, February 11, 2009 from the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home. Interment will be in Midland Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3 to 6 pm and from 11:00 am until time of service on Wednesday. Memorials may be offered to the Georgia Jacobson Foundation (www.GeorgiaJacobsonFoundation.org) or to the Pardee Cancer Treatment Fund of Midland.
