Elwood V. Schneider

Elwood V. Schneider, age 82 of Midland, died Saturday morning March 27, 2010 at MidMichigan Medical Center. The son of the late Gustav and Lillian Schneider was born in Midland on March 26, 1928, where he was raised and educated. Elwood served 8 years in the National Guard. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, liked vintage cars, watching old classic movies and watching the Detroit Tigers. Elwood enjoyed being around his kids and grandkids. He was a carpenter for more than 50 years. Elwood had started working for his dad's company and eventually own his own business. He had built many custom homes in the Midland area. On October 17, 1953 in Midland Elwood married the former Joyce M. Jackson. Together they enjoyed traveling and wintering in Florida. She died On March 17, 2005 after 51 years of marriage.

Surviving is his son, Mark (Stephanie) Schneider of Sanford; daughters, Susan (Donald) Schwartz of Romeo, Carol Shea of Sanford; grandchildren, Anna (Aaron) Schmohe, David (Emily) Schwartz, Alixandrea Shea; great grandchild, Micah James; sisters, Virginia Bulmer of Burbank, California, Ruth Schisler of Saginaw. In addition to his wife and parents, Elwood was preceded in death by a son, James, and brothers, Claude and Merle.

Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday March 30, 2010 from St. John's Lutheran Church. Rev. Daniel Kempin will officiate. Interment will follow in Midland City Cemetery. Elwood's family will receive friends at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
