Elmer F. Eschenburg

March 8, 1925 — December 3, 2017


Elmer F. Eschenburg, age 92 formerly of Warren, MI passed away Sunday, December 3rd, 2017 at Masonic Pathways in Alma. The son of the late Paul and Ella (Wiese) Eschenburg was born in Waldenburg, MI on March 8, 1925. Elmer proudly served his country as a Captain during World War II in the Army-Airforce. Afterwards, he went on to earn his Bachelor's degree from Michigan State University and a Master's degree in Education from The University of Florida. Elmer was a High School Principal for over 30 years, retiring in 1984. On Dec. 29, 1948, Elmer married the former Helen Page Bohman in Hartford, Connecticut. She preceded him in death on December 17, 2009.




Elmer was very active in his communities serving in many capacities with several organizations. He was an Optimist and member of the Consistory of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Warren, MI.; a Free and Accepted Mason with the Mt. Horeb Masonic Lodge of Cape Cod, a member of the Aleppo Shriners of MA, a Deacon with the Dennis Union Church in Dennis, MA. and an active member of the Heatherwood community in Yarmouthport, MA.




He is survived by his daughters, Linda (Tom) Ryden, Karen (Jeff) Ford, Jo Ellen (Fred Parr) Symkowiak and son, Rick (Mariann) Eschenburg; 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; brother Eldon (Pat) Eschenburg and sister-in-law, Isabelle Bohman and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Helen Page Bohman; brothers, Emil, Edward; and sisters, Ida, Gertrude, and Esther.



Per Elmer's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service in his honor will be held at a later date. Memorials in Elmer's name may be offered to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Boston; 52 Broad St., Boston, MA or the Dennis Union Church in Dennis, MA. Arrangements are under the care of the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home.
