Elmer C. Anderson

Elmer C. Anderson, age 92 of Midland, died Monday morning May 30, 2011 at MidMichigan Medical Center. The son of the late Martin C. and Alice (Peoples) Anderson was born in Bay County on December 22, 1918 where he was raised and educated. Elmer served in the United States Army during World War II. He then went to work for The Dow Chemical Company where he worked for over 40 years retiring in January 1982. Elmer was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church where he was involved in many church activities. He was a life member of the local VFW post 362, was an avid Tigers Fan, enjoyed gardening and being with his grandchildren. Elmer was also a direct descendant of the Mayflower. On September 2, 1949 in Illinois Elmer married Marjorie June Richardson. She died on December 8, 1993.

Surviving are his son, Robert (Connie) Anderson of Ashburn, Virginia; grandchildren, Hope (Matt) Ryan-Young, Oscar JJ Pickering III, Trevor (Megan) Anderson and Tara Anderson; great grandchildren, Ava & Zander Young, Findley Alice Pickering; brother, Dale (Barbara) Anderson of Auburn; sister, Alice Nagle of Midland; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Elmer was preceded in death by his daughter, Peggy Ryan; brother, Merlin Anderson.

Funeral services will take place 10:00 a.m. Friday June 3, 2011 from St. John's Episcopal Church. Rev. Rob Skirving will officiate. Interment will follow in Midland Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Funeral Military Honors being provided by the United States Army and the Midland Area Veterans. Family will receive friends at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
