Elizabeth L. Wilson, age 88 of Midland died Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Covenant Harrison in Saginaw. The daughter of the late Edward and Alma (Samdahl) Bender was born on February 25, 1922 in Detroit where she was raised and educated moving to Midland in 1945. Betty received her BS degree from Michigan State in 1942 and was a Home Economist. She also wrote a column, called Food Dollars, for the Midland Daily News for many years. Betty also enjoyed teaching adult education and micro wave cooking. She resided in Lake, MI from 1992 until her return to Midland in 2005 and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the American Association of University Women.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by her grandchildren: Kristin (Dave) Ruckle of Lake, Kent Hunt of North Carolina, Kurt Hunt of Lake and is also survived by great grandchildren Lyndsay, Emily and Taylor Ruckle, her brother John H. Bender of San Diego, CA, her son-in-law Harland Hunt of Lake. She was predeceased by her daughter Connie Hunt and her Brother Robert E. Bender.
Funeral service for Mrs. Wilson will be conducted at 2:00 pm Monday, February 28, 2011 from the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home with the Reverend Matthew Makela, of St. John's Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will be in North Brinton Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from noon until time of service. Memorials may be offered to the American Heart Association.
