Elizabeth J. Norton

Elizabeth J. Norton, age 88 of Midland, passed away at her home on Thursday July 1, 2010.
She was born in Midland on June 29, 1922 to the late John and Agnes (Hendrie) McCreadie, both of whom were Scottish immigrants settling in Midland. Elizabeth graduated from Midland High School in 1939 and then went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Michigan State University in 1943.
On December 13, 1943, Elizabeth married Joseph W. Norton, Jr. in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He predeceased her May 28, 2005. After raising her family Elizabeth worked for twenty years as a research chemist at The Dow Chemical Co. Agricultural Center in Midland.

Elizabeth is survived by her son, John M. Norton of San Francisco, California; two brothers, Robert L. (Shirley) and Richard H. McCreadie both of Midland; a sister, Margaret Jean Black of Owosso; and sister in law, Vi McCreadie of Midland.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Joseph W. Norton, Jr.; son, Joseph W. Norton III; and a brother, John D. McCreadie.

Per Elizabeth's wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no services. Memorials may be offered to the Disabled American Veterans or the Midland Salvation Army.
