May 23, 1919 — June 26, 2013

Edward S. Smith, age 94 of Midland died Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at the Cartwright Care Center in Saginaw.

The son of the late Andrew F. and Cora (Klink) Smith was born May 23, 1919 in Ingersoll Township where he was raised and educated. On August 7, 1942 Ed married the former Virginia L. Cameron in Saginaw. After 62 years of marriage, she predeceased him March 25, 2005.
Ed served with the U.S. Army during WWII. He was employed at the Dow Chemical as a pipefitter multi-craftsman for 37 years, retiring in 1982. He enjoyed summers at Houghton Lake, winters in Florida, fishing, boating, ball games, stock car racing and best of all family gatherings. Over the years he had knitted thousands of hats which he donated to local hospitals and schools.
Because of all the love he gave and all the love that he received, Ed felt that he was one of the richest men in the world.
