Duane F. Tracy, age 92 of Midland, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Stone Crest Assisted Living in Freeland. He was born on December 6, 1933, in Midland where he was raised and educated. Duane enlisted in the United States Air Force from 1951 - 1955, serving honorably during the Korean Conflict. It was during this time he married his sweetheart; Shirley A. Church and they started their family.
Being outdoors brought great joy to Duane’s life. His favorite activities being hunting, fishing, golfing, and camping, which he enjoyed doing with his family. He was a longtime member of the NRA and enjoyed going shooting, often with his kids. Duane’s family fondly remembers his Ham Radio days and his sign off, N8BYJ!
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Duane Philip (Mona) Tracy, Laurie E. (Rick) Finch, Mark D. (Terri) Tracy; grandchildren, Garry (Ellie) Shook, Robin (Ted) Gray, Kasey McHenry, Mathew Tracy, Tony (Rebecca) Tracy, Sheila Longpre, Crystal (Shawni) Devito, Joshua (Janine) Briston, Adam Briston, Mark R. (Riley) Tracy, James (Ashleigh) Laughton; several great grandchildren; son in-law, Mike Shook; and siblings, Bonnie Thompson and Carl D. Tracy.
Duane was welcomed home to heaven by his wife, Shirely; his parents, Carl F. and Doris R. (Sian) Tracy; children, Brenda Shook and Mary McHenry; and grandchildren, Timothy Tracy, John D. and Erin Longpre.
A service to honor Duane’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Wilson Miller Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of service. Duane will then be taken in procession to Midland Memorial Gardens where his comrades with the United States Air Force and Midland Honor Guard will conduct military honors.
Those wishing to contribute in Duane’s name are asked to consider either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Shriner Hospital for Children.
