Douglas D. Solosky, age 83 of Midland, passed away on Wednesday September 27, 2017 at MidMichigan Medical Center. The son of the late Leo and Hazel (Major) Solosky was born in Midland on April 13, 1934. Doug graduated from Midland High School in 1954 and received his Bachelor's in Liberal Arts from Central Michigan University. He worked for Giant Food Market in Mt. Pleasant as a produce manager until retiring in 1989 after 21 years of service. Doug and his life partner of 36 years Donald Draves started D. a. D.'s Antiques in 1986 and operated it until Don's death in 2004. He was an avid antique collector and broker. Doug enjoyed playing his Steinway Grand Piano and was an amateur writer with the Trailside Senior Center.
Doug is survived by his sister in law Myra Moore; nieces Lenore Crawford of Midland, Jody Solosky, Donia Solosky, Deidre Solosky of Albuquerque, NM, Mary Ellen Solosky of Benson, Vermont, Beth Scott of Midland, Beverly Saller of Colorado Springs, CO, Nancy Jo Cologna of Lecanto, FL; nephews Richard Solosky of Evergreen, CO, James Solosky of Gladwin, Michael Solosky of Bay City, Philip Solosky of Albuquerque, NM, Timothy Solosky of Jacksonville, FL; many great nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents and partner, Doug was preceded in death by his twin brother Tomas and brothers, Ethan, Richard, and Bill.
