Douglas D. Martin

Douglas Duane Martin, age 71 of Midland, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center. The son of the late Clifford Martin and Geraldine Buckey was born February 27, 1950 in Delray, Michigan. He served his country honorably with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Douglas worked with Saginaw Steering Gear for 30 years before retiring and enjoyed hunting, fishing, competitive running, i.e., full and half marathons. Doug will always be remembered for the love he had for his family and always put them first. His favorite thing in the world was being a grandpa and was looking forward to meeting his new granddaughter, Remi May Martin.

Surviving is his son, Jason Martin (Caprice Hammon) of Portland, OR; daughter, Carrie (Perry) Lund of Birch Run, MI; grandchildren, Remi, Brianna, and Savannah; great grandchild, Oliver; and siblings, Michael Martin, Paul Martin, Gregory Martin, and Cindy Talbot-Martin; and best friend, Steve York.

In addition to his parents, Douglas was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Martin. He was also preceded in death by his dog and best buddy, Montana.

Funeral services for Douglas will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home with Military Honors being provided by the United States Army and the Midland Area Veterans. Private interment will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 4 – 7 pm and again on Tuesday from 10 am until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be offered to an organization of one's choice.
