Douglas Mapes

Douglas O. Mapes, age 74 of Midland died at the MidMichigan Medical Center on Thursday April 11, 2013.
The son of the late Oscar and Grace (VanFleet) Mapes was born on July 13, 1938 in Midland where he was raised and educated. On August 13, 1957 he married the former Patricia Ann Nankervis in Coleman. Douglas worked for the Dow Corning Corp. as a millwright, retiring in 1990, after 32 years of service. Doug enjoyed working on cars, hunting and fishing. He was a former member of the Polka Dots Motorcycle Club.

Douglas is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Mapes; sons, Todd Mapes of Midland, Tadd Mapes of Sanford; daughter Dawn (Kevin) Renwick of Midland; grandchildren, Kevin Renwick, Heidi (Jason) Vanderbrink, great granddaughter, Grace Vanderbrink; brother, Keith Mapes; sisters, Mary Lewis and Melba Lyons.
He was predeceased by brothers, Wilbur and Don Mapes and sisters, Joanne McKinnon and Ida Fletcher.

Private interment was in Homer Township Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home where there will be no visitation or services. Memorials may be offered to the Humane Society of Midland County, P.O.B. 1034, Midland, MI 48641
