Douglas William Johndro (Big Doug), 54 of Midland, MI, gained his angel wings on December 1, 2024 in the arms of his sister after a long and courageous battle with renal failure and CHF. He was born on January 1, 1970 to the late William Louis Johndro Jr. and Lucinda Ann (Schofield) Barrett in Midland, MI. Doug had a selfless heart, the one everyone could count on. He was silly, goofy, loved to play practical jokes on everyone even strangers, adventurous with a bit of a wild side. Doug was someone you could call at any time day or night and he would come to the rescue. He enjoyed scraping, bowling, horseshoes, good home cooked meals and spending time with his family and friends. But most of all he was our protector. Doug was an amazing brother, son, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his sister, Susan Johndro of Midland, MI; brother, Jason (Jessica) Barrett of Pekin, IL; stepsister, Jennifer Thurston of Midland, MI; stepbrothers, Nicholas (Kristen) Thurston of Bay Port, MI, Jeff (Sherry) Lacey of Chattanooga, TN; stepmom, Gloria Thurston of Midland, MI; and stepdad, Robert Barrett of Jasper, TN. Nieces and nephews, Vanessa and Onahleya Maxson, Brayson Murray, Bradley and Jerick Maxson, Rachel Payne, Krislyn Thirft, Emily, Marissa, Airabella Barrett, Cody and Dylan Barrett, Peyton, Austin, Micah, and Kaleb Lacey. Along with several great nieces and nephews, family and friends. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, and niece, Brinley. Per Doug's request, cremation has taken place through Wilson MILLER Funeral home. The service will take place on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at Floyd Church of God, 1015 W. Chippewa River Rd, Midland, MI 48640. Immediate family will greet family and friends from 12pm until time of service at 1pm. The family is requesting no flowers to be sent, donations to help cover final expensed may be directed to Wilson MILLER Funeral Home (989) 839-9966 or Susan Johndro 2396 W. Isabella Rd Midland, MI 48640 to cover all funeral expenses. Fly high Big Doug until we meet again.
