Dorothy Dailey Jackson, age 88, of Midland, MI, passed away September 21, 2017 at, Candlestone Assisted Living and Memory Care. The daughter of the late D. Wellman Dailey and Hilda (Boyd) Dailey, Dorothy was born April 26, 1929 in Wellsville, NY. She married Robert W. Jackson in Wellsville, NY on June 17, 1950. After 34 years of marriage, Robert proceeded her in death on October 17, 1984.
Dorothy and her husband graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1951. They came to Midland where she taught Home Economics for Union High School, and later taught at Northwood University. She was a member of the First United Methodist Churchof Midland where she contributed her time and talents. Her community was very important to her and she served it by being a Stephens Minister, working in the Hospital Auxiliary, and with The Citizens Probation Council.
Her greatest love were her children, Susan J. (Ric) Heimke, of Collierville, TN; David R. (Bonnie) Jackson, of Midland, MI; Ann Arthur (Kevin) Holloman, of Bend, OR, and Mary J. (Frank) Miller, of Cape Coral, FL. Her grandchildren, Wesley and Ryan Heimke, Marilyn Jackson, Kyle and Tyler Arthur, and Christopher, Andrew, Carly, and Jennifer Miller, and her 8 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Dorothy was predeceased in death by her brother, Boyd Daily.
For the past year Dorothy had resided at Candlestone Assisted Living and Memory Care. The family expresses their thanks to the staff and residence for the outpouring of loving care and friendship they extended to our family and to our mother. We also extend our gratefulness to Hometown Health and Hospice Care for the incredible care and guidance they gave to all of us during this difficult time.
Per Dorothy's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held on Monday September 25, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Chapel at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Susan Kingsley officiating. Visitation will be at the church on the day of the service from, 10:00 am until the time of the service. Private inurnment will take place in the Midland City Cemetery.
Memorials in Dorothy D. Jackson's name may be offered to the First United Methodist Church of Midland, Salvation Army, or Shelter House of Midland. Personal messages of Condolence may be left for the family at www.wilson-miller.com.
