Dorothy R. (Faulstich) Fauver, 81, of Midland died Sunday, April 12, 2009 at Nottingham Place. She was born October 11, 1927 in Cicero, Illinois to the late Karl and Helen (Krogmann) Faulstich. The family moved to Hammond, Indiana in 1941 and Dorothy graduated from Hammond High School in 1945. On December 23, 1947 she married Vernon A. Fauver in Hammond and they became Midland residents in 1954. Dorothy was a Yellow Lady volunteer at the Midland Hospital from 1954-1958 and had been the Picture Lady at Adams Elementary School for several years. As hosting chair for People to People for many years, she enjoyed arranging home stays for overseas visitors in Midland. She was a member of the Midland Nature Center, the Midland Symphony League, where she provided coffee for orchestra rehearsals, the Chippewa Nature Center and the Red Hat Society.

Dorothy was instrumental in starting the United Church of Christ in Midland in 1958 where she was active in the local Civil Rights action in the 1960's and continuing social justice concerns. She also sang in the choir.She was a nature lover, especially enjoying feeding and banding birds, feeding the chipmunks and caring for her indoor plants.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Vernon; son John V. (Inanna) Fauver of Lansing; daughter, Gayle (William) Pamerleau of Murrysville, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Ian and Claire Pamerleau; and brother, John (Janet) Faulstich of Florida.

In keeping with her wishes, her body was donated to the University of Michigan Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, April 25, 2009 at the United Church of Christ, 4100 Chestnut Hill Drive in Midland with the Reverend Roger Pancost officiating.
Visitation will be in the church Fellowship Hall Friday, April 24 from 4-7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials may be offered to the United Church of Christ Music Fund or to the Chippewa Nature Center Expansion Fund.
