Donald L. Starin Sr.

Donald L. Starin Sr. age 83 of Midland died at the Mid Michigan Medical Center on Friday, July 22, 2011. The son of the late Glen and Ethyl (Ritter) Starin was born on March 14, 1928 in Lansing, MI where he was raised and educated. On May 15, 1948 he married the former Charlotte Ruby in Lansing. Don worked at Michigan State University for 41 years full time and 6 part time years for a total of 47 years. He retired in 1989 as Supervisor of Custodial Service. In all of the years of his service he only missed one home football game. He was a member of Holy Scripture Lutheran Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working, golf, watching football, and loved to watch the grandchildren play sports.

Don is survived by his wife of 63 years, Charlotte Starin, his son Donald (Deniece) Starin Jr. of Midland and daughter Doris M. Starin of Battle Creek. He is also survived by grandchildren: Kurtis (Laura) Starin, Donald L. Starin III, Ronald Spitzley, Dona Spitzley Stephanie Spitzley, Amy (Dirk) LaMee and Dawn (Scott) Syrowik. He will also be missed by many great grandchildren.

Memorial funeral service will be conducted at twelve o'clock noon on Monday, July 25, 2011 from Holy Scripture Lutheran Church with the Reverend Paul Schneider officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 11:00 am until time of service. Memorials may be offered to Holy Scripture Lutheran Church or to Mid Michigan Home Health Care. Arrangements are by the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home.
