Donald E. Hook, age 93 of Myrtle Beach, SC, formerly of Midland, Michigan died Sunday, October 24th, 2010 at Conway Medical Center Conway, SC. The son of the late Neil C. and Gertrude (VanStella) Hook was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on March 15, 1917. He graduated from Union High School in Grand Rapids. In 1943 Donald graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering. He then received his Masters in Business Administration from Central Michigan University. Donald had been employed with Dow Corning until his retirement in 1979 after 40 years of research service during which time he received several patents. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he sang in two services of the church choir for many years. Donald was also a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, American Chemical Society, and the Professional Engineers in the State Of Michigan. He was also an Amateur Radio Operator and sang in the local Barber Shop Quartet. On June 4th 1944 in Midland, Donald married the former Jean Whiting.

Surviving are his wife of 66 years Jean Whiting Hook; daughters, Barbara (John) Buege of Elkton, Maryland, Deborah (Stephen) Kurucz of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren, Andrea, Krista, Tyler Buege, Kelly and Casey Kurucz and great grandchildren; Rylan, Hailey, Conner, Kellyn, Gavin, and Jaren.

Funeral services for Mr. Hook will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, October 30, 2010 from the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Brent L. McCumons of First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Midland City Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 am until the time of service.
Memorial donations may be offered to First United Methodist Church.
