Donald Irving Herringshaw

November 19, 1932 — December 15, 2025

Midland

Donald “Don” Herringshaw was born on November 19, 1932 in Midland County, Michigan. He passed away peacefully at age 93 on December 15, 2025 at Candlestone Assisted Living Facility.

Don was born and raised in Gordonville, Michigan, the youngest of seven children of the late Laura and George Herringshaw. He graduated from Midland High School in 1951, and shortly after he began his career at Dow Chemical, in Midland, as a painter. When war broke out in Korea, he was drafted into the Army. He was proud of his service record. After completing his tour, he returned to Dow Chemical Company where he worked for the next 40 years, retiring in 1991 as a machinist. Don loved gardening, woodworking and doing handyman work for himself and others.

Don met Anna Louise Schroeder in 1955, after returning from the Korean War. She remained the love of his life for 69 years until his passing. They enjoyed ballroom dancing, gardening, and attending church together. Don and Louise had two children, Debora Louise and Jeffrey Donald, who they were close with. Don taught his kids many lessons over the years and instilled in them a sense of integrity and resilience with one of his motto’s being, “Measure twice, cut once.” Above all, Don was honest and nonjudgmental. Don had many friends and although his parents and siblings predeceased him, he had a large extended family. Don was the epitome of hard work, dedication, and love for family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Louise, and his daughter, Debora Blesch.

Per Don’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Wilson MILLER Funeral Home.
