Donald E. Boxey, age 88, of Sanford, passed away Tuesday evening September 10, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Son of the late Paul and Thelma (Nelson) Boxey, was born on December 15, 1935, in Beaverton, Michigan. The family moved to Sanford, Michigan in 1950.
Don graduated from Midland High School in 1954 and enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served from 1954 to1958. Don retired as a journeyman electrician from Dow Corning Corporation in December 1995. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus and longstanding parishioner and former usher at Our Lady of Grace (St. Agnes) Parish. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, and working with his hands. His happiest days were when he was spending time with his wife and family.
Don was a man of profound faith, whose unwavering belief guided him through every chapter of life. He was known for his remarkable work ethic, always giving his best in all that he did. His integrity was the cornerstone of his character, and he treated everyone he met with fairness and respect. He had a sharp wit and sense of humor which brought joy and laughter to those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and dedication that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Sharon (Neiner) of 64 years of whom he married on June 18, 1960, in St. Agnes Catholic Church in Sanford, Michigan. His sons Kevin (Jamie Wagner), Mark (Nancy Smendik), Blane, Kent (Amy Bailey), and Dawn (Green) Boxey. Grandchildren Briana Asselin (David), Meghan Grondin, Sarah Lasota (Blake), Paul, Grant, Elena, Aaron, Trevor, Donovan, Devin, and Dana Boxey and great-grandchildren Mitchell and Alice Grondin. Sister Jeanne (Tom) Pontseele and brother Ron (Rebecca) Boxey.
He is preceded in death by his brother Fred Boxey.
The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday September 14, 2024 at Our Lady of Grace (St. Agnes) Catholic Church with Fr. Dan Fox OFC. Cap officiating. The rite of commital will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery. Family will receive guests at the Wilson MILLER Funeral Home on Friday from 4 until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
