Dexter J. "Dex" Gillis

Dexter J. "Dex" Gillis, age 86 of Midland, died Sunday June 2, 2013 at his residence. The son of the late Joseph E. and Blanche A. (Supernant) Gillis was born in Pontiac on December 10, 1926. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Dex had been employed with Consumers Energy until his retirement after 30 years of service. He enjoyed playing golf, working in his garden, hunting and fishing, cutting wood, handing out candy to the neighbor kids and going to the Community Center. Dex was a member of St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church, the V.F.W. and American Legion.

Surviving is his wife of 65 years the former Betty Jarvis of whom he married on January 31, 1948; son, Mark (Vickie) Gillis of Midland; daughter, Julie (Randy) Wysong of Midland; grandchildren, Jake & Jason Gillis, Lucas Wysong & Logan Wyson Foreman; 5 great grandchildren.
