DeVere Ralph Bixler

DeVere Ralph Bixler died August 3, 2026. He was born to Walter and Irene Bixler on February 17, 1939 in Cadillac, MI.

DeVere moved to Midland when he was 4 years old and graduated from Midland High School in 1957. He joined the Navy right out of high school and served for 2 years. He married Gloria Bixler on August 5, 1961, and moved to Mt. Pleasant in January 1962 as the Cook Coffee delivery man for Isabella and Clare County. He later became an insurance agent with Walter Mey Insurance as well as his own company. He was the first Bail Bondsman in Isabella County when Don Gillis was sheriff. DeVere was a security guard at the Soaring Eagle Casino for 5 years until he retired.

DeVere is survived by his wife, Gloria; daughters, Becky (Steve) Moore of Lansing and Ann (Paula) Bixler of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Rowan, Ayden, and Sophia Bixler and Sergei and Tatyana Moore; brother, Bruce (Jo) Bixler of Luther; sister, Carolyn Federer of Midland; and sister-in-law, Suzanne Bixler. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard (Mary) Bixler of Cadillac and James Bixler of Mobile, AL; and brother-in-law, Richard Federer.

A funeral service to honor DeVere’s life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Wilson Miller Funeral Home. Friends and family are welcome to gather for visitation from 1:00pm until the time of service.
